There is a technique called 'airbrushing' where the nail technician can paint and blend colours and patterns with a great degree of intricacy and accuracy, sometimes using stencils. Gem stones or other decorations can be placed in the polish before it is dry, and transfers can be used to put a complete picture on the nail. Nail jewellery is also available in all shapes that can be attached to the nail. Nail art designs can be applied to natural nails or nail extensions, and are sealed with a special clear varnish so that they last longer than the usual nail polish.
