Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Lauren Dorsey knew early on that she wanted to be an actress. Always the entertainer, her flair for performance was recognized by others at a young age. As a child, she performed and recorded with local music groups before appearing in the hit stage play Preacher's Kids alongside Destiny's Child and comedian John Witherspoon.
While studying theater at the University of Maryland College Park and Towson University, Lauren was rewarded several opportunities to display her talent. Her ability to transform into the characters she portrayed became evident as she acted in roles ranging from a wrongly accused Native American man in the stage play "Prison Writings: My Life is My Sun Dance" to playing multiple characters from a valley girl to a part of a machine in Kuumba's "Red White Black and Blue". She has played the lead role in two independent movies and appeared in the feature film "Step Up". From playing a beautiful leading lady to the devil himself, she has successfully incorporated everything from drama to musicals to comedy into her body of acting work.
Lauren earned her bachelor's degree in Theater and Communications from Towson University and has continued to work as an actress and model in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. When she is not working, Lauren is an avid runner and enjoys attending worship services and spending time with family and friends. Most recently, Lauren has joined the cast of Anacostia, and will appear in episodes of the show's second season.
