Alicia Holloway, a native of Floridian began my dream to be one of Harlem’s famous hair stylist specializing in African braiding as a teenager. I started in 1982 receiving most of my training at Lorraine’s Beauty Salon under the directions of Mrs. Lorraine Broughton, a master stylist in Harlem.
After working with Lorraine for ¬numerous years, I partnered with Joy Norwood and open my very own Salon, “Hairs 2 U” located on the corner of 127th street and 7th Ave.  We built Hairs 2 U up to be the most popular Salon for women of all nationalities to get their hair braided in fish tail braids. I created a unique look to the braids by taking the fishtail braids and putting my own twist to it. This twist cause Hairs 2 U salon to be one of Harlem’s most popular salons to get your hair braided in some of the hottest styles roaming the streets of Harlem. I also specialize in flat twist and Micro braids. I brought a unique look to African braiding that has made me known to all in the five boroughs of New York City.
I have worked as a Master Stylist for the past 28 yrs specializing in fishtail braids of all designs. My dedication to hair braiding is genuine and my style is one of a kind that has yet to be duplicated or replicated. .
My future plans to expand in this field I have chosen as my profession is t o open my very own shop. Once up and operating, I plan to open a beauty school training various stylists about fishtail braids and hair care. I also plan to venture into different states opening braiding shops to expand my unique style worldwide. Lastly, shop talk has led me to book publishing and I am in the process of writing a book on my journey as a Hair Stylist. (Life lesson).
